Have you ever shown up for a photo session and everything is absolutely perfect? Everyone’s outfits match beautifully, the kids are in amazing moods, nobody fought while getting ready or in the car, the weather is flawless, and—miraculously—the kids are about to cooperate like never before. To top it off, you feel more beautiful than you ever have before!
Yeah… me neither.
When you show up for family pictures, it’s easy to notice all the little things that aren’t perfect. As your photographer, I tend to see it differently. Each session feels like a chapter in your family’s story—capturing life exactly as it is in that moment.
For the Wilson Family, this chapter was that time their daughter had recently been married. That time their oldest son was about to leave for his mission and his had that cute curly hair that he had to cut off shortly after. It was that time the forecast was perfect only to have wild winds come out of nowhere. Those slightly stormy skies the wild wind brought in sure is beautiful though.
It was the time there was a random trampoline at the location that we just had to take a few jumps on.
It’s tempting to focus on what doesn’t go as planned. But maybe that’s the point. Maybe that is perfect. Because that’s life—unpredictable, messy, and full of moments worth remembering just as they are. As your photographer that’s my challenge to you: enjoy the moment and preserve things just as they are at that moment in your family’s story.
Thank you for being good sports, Wilson Family!
