Some of my fondest memories growing up are playing board games at my Grandma’s house. A holiday wasn’t complete without a game marathon! We would laugh, eat treats, and tease Grams for swearing. We still try and play games now and again, but having little kids around makes it tough.
My older kids are getting to the age where they are starting to enjoy games and can actually follow the rules. The other day, Dad was gone working on our new house and the babies were napping. Paisley, Max, and I were stuck at the condo, trying to be quiet, and feeling a little cooped up. I suggested they play a game while I got some work done. Candyland, Life, Uno…they played for hours! I sat back laughing along with them and feeling so much joy that they were getting along. The laughter really started rolling in when Paisley started doing her Uno victory dance! Her lack of coordination made it all the much more fun. Max’s face radiates pure joy when he is happy and watching him get excited is the best thing. I hope now that the big kids are a little older, the game playing tradition can continue on.
